Course objectives
OBJECTIVE The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basics of financing projects from the European Union ("EU"), to introduce them to the problems of community programs and EU structural funds and to acquaint them with the basic principles of preparation, implementation and evaluation of projects supported by EU funds; all with an emphasis on projects in the field of culture and cultural industries, including projects at international level. Course synthesizes the knowledge and skills acquired in courses in project management, fundraising, economic, cultural policy and justice and leads students to their practical application in the preparation of financial support model project within the selected grant program. DESCRIPTORS KNOWLEDGE Students are able to: - List the EU Structural Funds and describe their focus, - Explain the differences between the Structural Funds and Community Programmes EU, - Describe the basic principles of programming EU, incl. related - program documents, - Describe the basic principles and structure of operational programs, - Describe the basic stages of the life cycle of grants financed from EU funds, - Describe the basic principles of tendering and procurement. SKILLS Students can: - Prepare an analysis of grant opportunities for a model example of a project in the field of culture and cultural industries with an emphasis on EU resources, - On the basis of the analysis can design the basic fundraising argument / arguments for the selected grant title / titles, - Evaluate the difficulty of preparing project applications submitted to selected EU subsidy program in terms of individual types of resources (time, finance, human resources) - Analyze conditions, risks and complexity (time, financial, organizational) any project supported by the selected EU subsidy program, - Set criteria for evaluating the success of a project supported by EU funds, and assess its sustainability, - Work on the appropriate forms / applications in electronic project application for the selected grant title (from the definition of the concept, its objectives and target groups through the design of key activities, organizational arrangements, time schedule and budget for the definition of monitoring indicators and other aspects required by the grant) - Present a model project funding opportunities from EU sources, including analysis of the opportunities and risks of other students of the course. ELIGIBILITY Student is able to: - Search for the appropriate key and supplementary materials and resources, - Finding materials and sources critically and independently to study and evaluate, - Define their tasks and schedule them in time, - Communicate with other students of the course and discuss proposed solutions, - Define and adopt ethical principles of transparent and equitable treatment in the preparation, implementation and evaluation of projects financed from public sources.

  • - Introduction into European funds (history, fundamentals of program funding, basic terminology)
    - Community Programmes of the European Union (types of programs, their focus, terminology) with an emphasis on programs supporting projects in the field of culture and cultural industries
    - European Union Structural Funds (fund types, links to national programs, terminology) and operational programs in the Czech Republic in the programming periods 2004-2006, 2007-2013 and 2014 - by 2020
    - Life cycle of grants
    - Preparation of the project plan (project acceptability conditions, the selection of a suitable grant title, evaluate performance and feasibility of the project)
    - A detailed analysis of the processing of applications for project support within selected subsidy program with connections with the theory of project management
    - Administration and specifics of implementation of supported projects, interim and final evaluation of projects, project sustainability
    - Introduction to tendering and procurement

Student reflects a practically verifies the knowledge gained lecture and self independent work - drawing up a project application to a model example of a project in the field of culture and cultural industries. Part of this work is to map the grant opportunities for the model project (with an emphasis on resource EU), the selection of a suitable grant title, preparation of project applications to the appropriate forms and presentation of the final solution, which is reflected by both the teacher and other students.

Assessment methods
winter semester This course is completed graded credit. For successful completion of the course is necessary to complete the entire course, tasks within the course and the seminary work. The percentage weight rating: - Entrance requirements: attendance at all three days of the course, - Tasks within the course: 30% (used to verify the student's knowledge). - Seminar work: 70% rating, incl. verbal feedback educator (used to validate the skills and proficiency of the student)
