Applicant profile:
The applicant is usually a graduate of a conservatory, music grammar school or other secondary school, whose skills and knowledge meet the requirements of a music professional (he or she has basic knowledge of harmony, polyphony, instrumentation, music history, etc. and is able to demonstrate it in practice), has obvious motivation and interest in the field of music art as well as a broader knowledge of and interest in the field of culture. The applicant shall be proficient in at least one global language at a secondary school level.
A graduate will:
– acquire advanced skills in the field of performance and he or she will have mastered the basic scope of the repertoire of field’s main subject;
– have considerable skills in conducting chamber ensembles, symphony orchestras and choirs;
– be sufficiently versed in the field of pedagogical work: methodology, didactics of pedagogy and psychology;
– have deep knowledge of music history and the development of artistic trends and styles;
– be proficient in language, with good knowledge of musical terminology;
– have practical experience gained from working on faculty or school-wide projects (chamber and orchestral projects, often with international participation) or experience gained through a study stay abroad.
During the study, the graduate will meet foreign experts in the field of conducting.
After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:
- demonstrate basic professional knowledge of choir repertoire, music history and the development of artistic trends and styles, with respectable knowledge of basic primary and secondary professional literature, etc.;
- use the acquired skills in demonstrating conducting techniques, in playing the piano to the extent necessary for the study of musical material or to perform the role of a répétiteur or a similar role, as well as for interpretation of various stylistic pe
- apply general skills of team work and effective communication with its members, formulate a problem, choose and defend their own interpretive opinion and pedagogical approach, share his or her knowledge and work procedures with others, etc.
– conductor of a chamber, symphony, theatre orchestra or other instrumental group, a choirmaster;
– music director for music recording in radio, television, on CDs, etc.;
– various media positions (music editorial staff);
– art school teacher.
The graduate can work in the following relevant professions:
– artistic director of musical theatres, orchestras and choirs;
– various managerial positions (organisation of music festivals, agency activities, etc.);
– music dramaturge of an art ensemble, art agency, music festival, in all types of theatres, etc.
