The aim is to prepare active artists for independent creative activity in the field of culture, creative industry and artistic activities on the international scene, primarily as autonomous authors, capable of independent original production of contemporary free art and applied art – such as incidental and film music, computer games, museum expositions, performances in the public space, etc.

Applicant profile:

Basic prerequisites for admission to studies include talent, the ability of creative imagination, creative application of acquired knowledge and skills and other general prerequisites for studying at university level. The applicant is usually a graduate of a conservatory, grammar school or other specialised secondary school or university, who can demonstrate in the entrance exams his or her knowledge of the field and a deep long-term interest in its development, with a broader grasp and knowledge of events in culture. The applicant shall also be capable of logical reasoning, systemic and at the same time creative thinking, interested in various artistic styles and trends, musical genres, capable of playing an instrument or an electronic device intended for music production, able to use current computer and information technology and be active in the search for opportunities to apply his or her own opinion in original presentations. He or she shall also be proficient in at least one global language (ideally English) at the level of secondary school.

A graduate will:

– gain comprehensive knowledge of the issues of the field in its variability of multimedia forms of artistic production and in the whole range of their expressive possibilities;

– acquire advanced skills in the field, including mastery of the basic range of creative processes and compositional techniques of the 20th century, but also the ability to apply the latest knowledge of science and development in the field of new technologies;

– have deep knowledge of changes in social processes, art history and the development of artistic styles and trends;

– be proficient in language with good knowledge of music, art, theatre and film terminology;

– be sufficiently versed in the field of pedagogical work: methodology, didactics of pedagogy and psychology;

– have practical experience gained from working on faculty or school-wide projects (solo projects, chamber and orchestral projects, often with international participation) or experience gained through a study stay abroad;

– have practical organisational experience gained from working on school projects, productions in the school studio and music and drama laboratory, and at international festivals.

During the studies, the graduate will meet with foreign experts from various relevant fields.

After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:

  • demonstrate professional knowledge in the field of art history and the development of artistic trends and styles; a graduate will be familiar with the basic manifestations of 20th century art and current trends, knowledgeable about the various directions
  • use professional skills in the creation of autonomous works of contemporary art in various forms, demonstrate basic skills in the application of various styles of contemporary art of the 20th century within their own concepts, etc.;
  • apply general skills of team work, cooperation with a leading personality of a creative team (dramaturge, conductor, director), choose a suitable stylistic and genre line, determine the right means and time schedule, etc.

The graduate can work in the following characteristic professions:

– author of multimedia works;

– author of websites;

– audiovisual creator;

– composer of incidental music;

– teacher at all levels of art education (primary art school, conservatory, university) and in various subjects (composition, composition theory, music theory, music history, etc.).

The graduate can work in the following characteristic professions:

– multimedia specialist or new media dramaturge in all types of theatres and in cultural or non-profit institutions;

– multimedia specialist or new media dramaturge in an art agency or ensemble;

– dramaturge of a multimedia art festival;

– multimedia specialist or new media dramaturge of projects in the public space;

– initiator of own agency activities.

The study plan consists of compulsory, elective and optional courses and of compulsory artistic study outputs.

A student must obtain 60 credits for each year of studies and finish the studies with a state final examination in selected courses, graduation performance defence and diploma thesis defence.
