- such student will be able to interpret and master a wide range of repertoire of the main subject of his or her specialization at a high level
- will have an in-depth knowledge of the history and literature of the instrument
- will be familiar with the aesthetics of art and the development of artistic movements
- will acquire practical experience through work on faculty or university-wide projects, which are solo, chamber and orchestral projects often with international participation, or gain further experience through a study visit abroad
- ultimately, a JAMU student of this field will learn how to properly approach scientific work.
What knowledge, skills and general competencies does have a graduate of the String Instruments study program?
Knowledge:
- has extensive knowledge in the repertoire of the relevant specialization and the repertoire of chamber ensembles;
- has the ability to explain the compositional principles and tectonics of the studied musical work in accordance with a strong opinion on its interpretation;
- masters the basic principles of pedagogical work and is deeply familiar with the current trends in teaching methodology of the given study specialization;
- is also familiar with the literature and foreign sources;
- has in-depth knowledge of the history and literature of the given specialization’s instrument, of music history, aesthetics and the development of artistic trends and styles, is familiar with foreign repertories and literature and further develops these;
- is familiar with contemporary trends in pedagogy and psychology;
- is aware of the key financial, business and legal aspects of the music profession.
Skills:
- demonstrates highly profiled skills in playing the instrument with an emphasis on solo repertory and chamber music;
- knows how to interpret demanding compositions of the repertoire of the given discipline and how to apply modern interpretation principles (within the framework of the informed interpretation or according to the principles of modern interpretation techniques of contemporary music);
- can be a flexible member of the chamber and orchestral ensembles, has basic practical skills in conducting chamber ensembles;
- is well versed in professional vocabulary, including a foreign language and musical terminology;
- can follow current trends in the given study specialization and integrate them into his or her professional development;
- masters the basic principles of professional text creation;
- can use technologies related to the specialization and apply them in practice.
