How long are the Orchestral Conducting studies at JAMU?

It is a five-year master’s degree program. If graduates of bachelor’s degree programs from other schools are interested in studying this program, they can apply for the entrance examination, take the bridging examination and, after successfully passing both of them, advance directly to the fourth year of studies at JAMU.

What is the emphasis of teaching in this program?

Practical verification of acquired knowledge - the emphasis is placed on practical verification of acquired knowledge. Thanks to the cooperation with the National Theatre Brno, students have the opportunity to participate in the preparation of opera and ballet productions. During the academic year, they attend several sessions with a practice orchestra, a series of rehearsals with a practice choir, and an annual concert with a professional orchestra. Furthermore, students can also become leaders of musical projects of the Chamber Opera JAMU or Devítka Studio. The Faculty of Music JAMU respects the individuality of each student and his or her personal preferences, which is why it offers a large number of courses with individual specialization for the interpretation of early music, musical theatre, new music, oratorios and cantatas, and others.

What can students use in their lessons?

In teaching at JAMU, the university offers state-of-the-art equipment suitable for both demonstrative teaching and experimentation, including a school theatre and its own recording studios.

And what else can students learn at JAMU?

The teaching also includes the basics of marketing, law, economics, and psychology. They can also visit our partner institutions abroad to gather more experience.
