The Composition degree program will prepare its graduate for a career as a professional composer. What does it offer?
The Composition study program with specialization on Electroacoustic Music Composition is taught at the Composition, Conducting and Opera Directing Department. This multidisciplinary department teaches future composers not only the “craft” itself but also the close cooperation with multimedia creators, conductors, choral directors, opera directors, and audio engineers. Students learn not only to compose but also to think about music-making in a modern way.
What does JAMU provide for the students of Composition?
What can students use in their lessons?
The Faculty of Music of JAMU offers state-of-the-art equipment that is suitable for both demonstrative teaching and experimentation. These include the conversion of visual, haptic, and other parameters into sound, the realization of graphic scores, research into micro-interval tuning, interactive electronic systems, the use of multi-channel reproduction or compositional integration of ambient sound recordings (field recording, etc.), including its own theatre. The students will also collaborate with the National Theatre Brno and other institutions (including foreign ones, such as the Institute of Sonology in Den Haag) and have the opportunity to practice in our own recording studios.
