Admission procedure

The applicant must be a graduate of at least bachelor’s degree studies with an artistic, artistic-technical or media focus and submit an application for studies before the set deadline (portfolio of own creative works with a focus on the medium of light, a brief essay on the expected diploma thesis, and other requirements, see https://studujdf.jamu.cz/prihlaska/). In the first round, which takes place without the applicant’s participation, the committee evaluates the submitted documents. The second round takes place with the applicant’s personal participation and it has three parts – a written test, an interview about his/her own portfolio and a discussion about the applicant’s direction and intentions during the studies.

The studies

The study plan includes both technical courses and courses from the field of humanities. Some of these are based on cooperation with other studios. Regular teaching includes workshops, excursions and seminars with Czech and foreign experts. In their assignments, students collaborate on school projects, become part of creative teams, gain valuable experience and establish interesting contacts. They have the opportunity realise the graduation project in one of the school theatres. Students are motivated to participate in festivals and conferences.

In addition to theatre projects, students also participate in studio projects, which can be based on their own original work. However, their work does not necessarily have to be connected with theatre, e.g. light installation, videomapping, concert lighting, etc.
