Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the general issues of film and television scenography, with the difference between theater and film scenography, with the structure and course of film production from the preparatory phase, through the actual filming to post-production, with the role and position of the scenographer in this process . The goal is to expand the possibilities of applying graduates in practice.
Learning outcomes
​ The student is able to:
focus on the specifics of film and television scenography;
to reflect the differences between theater and film scenography;
deal with the structure and process of film production;
manage the implementation from the preparatory phase, through the actual filming to post-production;
understands the role and position of the scenographer in the process of creation and production.
Syllabus
  • The student goes through all the components of the preparatory phase of the filming: reading the background text from the point of view of the camera, subsequent selection of locations, their meaningful photo documentation and presentation, design of modifications in the premises, development of documentation for studio buildings, selection of furniture and the most important props. V 1. semester, students will become familiar with the general basics of scenographic work:
  • A short introduction to the history of film scenography.
  • Teamwork on an audiovisual work, film crew structure.
  • Definition of film footage.
  • Tools of film scenography.
  • The structure of the work of a film scenographer.
  • Students develop concepts, proposals, storyboards, and technical documents. The course is attended by a guest (ZS - Jana Bejblová)

Assessment methods
For graded credit, the student submits photo documentation of selected locations, a color perspective study capturing the light atmosphere, a list and photos of equipment and technical documentation for production, including surface treatments.
