- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to prepare students for their master's thesis. Students will be familiarized with the process of preparing and writing a master's thesis so that they are able to write a professional text of the required length and quality. The aim of the regularly held seminar is to enable students, through presentations on the current state of their work, to engage with other participants, develop their ability to think through the topic on an ongoing basis, formulate their research intentions and opinions, and thus defend the text they are preparing in all its phases before a wider audience.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, students will:
- have knowledge of how to prepare and subsequently write a professional text;
- be able to search for sources of information and collect the necessary material;
- be familiar with the bibliographic standards appropriate for writing a professional text and other formal requirements of the work;
- able to create a structure for their work and write a professional text of the required length;
- able to apply the knowledge gained in the theoretical part of the seminar to practical writing;
- able to formulate their opinions, the current state of their research, and present everything to an audience; - Syllabus
- 1.-2. Introduction – criteria for academic writing, how to write an academic text
- 3. Formulating the topic of the thesis – how to choose a suitable topic
- 4. Thesis abstract – requirements for form and content
- 5.-6. Formulating the basic objectives of the research
- 7. Compiling a list of sources and literature
- 8.-9. Study of literature and heuristics
- 10.-13. Drafting a thesis outline, considering the structure of the thesis and the content of individual sections
