Course objectives

Introducing the student to the finishing work of a sound engineer in the production of a Czech version of a foreign-language audiovisual work. Deepening the student's ability to work in a creative team.

The student will acquire practical and theoretical technical knowledge to create a Czech version of a foreign-language audiovisual work, from the preparation of the material to the final finalization.
The student will use their knowledge and skills in their future employment as a studio sound engineer or in the private sector.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- know Avid Pro Tools software at an advanced level;
- respond to stressful situations that may arise during dubbing creation;
- finalise (mix) the Czech dialogue track and prepare the audiovisual work for delivery to the client.

Syllabus

• Working with Avid Pro Tools: tools for finalizing audio tracks.
• Working with Avid Pro Tools: setting up a project to finalize the resulting audio track.
• Finalizing an audio track: basic rules, finalization itself.
• Familiarity with control devices: correlator, analyzer.
• Control after finalization of the audio track.
• Explanation of the technical requirements of the client.
• Preparation of the audiovisual work for submission to the client.

Teaching methods

Teaching is in the form of practical exercises. It includes cooperation with an actor, director, dramaturge and an editor of Czech dialogues. Students realize the work of a studio sound engineer by real dubbing. The output is a joint work in the form of a completed Czech version of the selected audiovisual work.

Assessment methods

Credits are gained on the basis of attendance (at least 80% attendance) and completion of partial tasks assigned by the teacher, including the final production of the audiovisual work.

Cíl: Seznámení studenta s dokončovací prací zvukaře při tvorbě českého znění cizojazyčného audiovizuálního díla. Prohloubení schopnosti studenta spolupráce v tvůrčím týmu.
Deskriptory: Student získá praktické i teoretické technické znalosti k vytvoření českého znění cizojazyčného audiovizuálního díla, a to od přípravy materiálu až po výslednou finalizaci.
Student využije svých znalostí a dovedností ve svém budoucím uplatnění jako studiový zvukař či v soukromém sektoru.

• Student participates in joint work on dubbing film work in Czech (Czech sounding foreign language film). The output is a reflection dubbed film school students and teachers. literature
