- Course objectives
- The course in pedagogy introduces students to the basic terminology and relationships of pedagogy as a science of education. It focuses primarily on the subject of pedagogy, basic insight into the history of pedagogy and education, its structure, the definition of basic pedagogical categories such as: goals, contents, forms, educational factors and their mutual relationships. The last part of the course is devoted to the characteristics of selected alternative pedagogical directions.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, the student: understands basic pedagogical concepts and is able to place them in context. has an overview of the education system in the Czech Republic and educational policy. has an overview of the development of pedagogy and education and key figures in education in our country and around the world. is able to define individual alternative schools and name their specifics.
- Syllabus
- Pedagogy as a science, subject of pedagogy, basic concepts, pedagogical disciplines. Basic overview of the history of pedagogy and education and the development of alternative directions. Alternatives and innovations in school education: alternative schools, home education, innovations in the work of teachers and schools. Basic pedagogical categories: goal, content, form, method, educational factors. Educational factors, teacher, Teaching as a profession: teacher's personality, teacher's qualities, work activities. Pupil as a subject of education: types of intelligence, learning styles, creativity as a personality characteristic. School as an institution: Czech educational system, school legislation, cooperation between family and school (school as a community). School curriculum: framework educational program, school educational program and work with them. Educational policy as a framework for events in school: basic documents and trends, ways of promoting educational policy.
